First Vacation of 2009

We took a ski trip with our good friends the Hodges. Jody graduated from TCU with his MBA and to celebrate we went to Taos! The guys went skiing and Nikki and I played in the snow with the boys on the first day. The second day we just hung out, ate, shopped, and ate some more. Every evening we had a fire going and just sat around getting to know each other better. Collin and Christian did pretty good, considering that we were not home and they had a long car ride to get to the mountains. We kept them pretty close to their schedules though. That's what is great about traveling with friends that also have a little one. We had a wonderful time and while we were there Taos got so much snow! The day that we were driving in is when the snow started falling and it fell all night long. It made for some wonderful skiing for the guys...however, it also meant that every time we wanted to go somewhere we had to get their 4 Runner out. We actually gave up on it one night and left stuck at the end of the drive way. Bless their hearts, it was crazy! The good news is that Eric's mom let us borrow her Subaru and that thing kicks butt in the snow. If you are going to the mountains you must have an all wheel drive. We heard that in 30 years it was the most snow that they had gotten at once, plus, it's early in the season for them to have that much snow. It was so beautiful. Just breathing in the mountain air makes you feel good. It was a very relaxing and quiet trip.

Eric and I actually flew to Amarillo and then drove from there. So, on the way back we had a day to spend in Amarillo. Before we caught our flight we stopped off at the Amarillo Zoo. Collin had a blast! No stroller needed...he just walked around and wanted to pet all of the animals. He was not sure why they all had to be fenced in. He isn't scared at all. He has such a gentle spirit and is so sweet.
