The Stuff Dreams are Made of: Mother's Day

I love Mother's Day. It makes me feel so blessed to be a mother and a daughter. I thought this would be a good day to blog about some things that Collin has been doing lately. He is now 20 months old and in the past month his vocabulary has really grown. He says new words daily. He imitates everything we do. It is so adorable. Here are some of the things that he does that make us smile:

-he takes cell phones, cameras or anything that looks like one of those and holds them out with one arm and looks at it and says, "cheeeese".

-he loves apple sauce, but he calls it hot sauce. Also, he loves to eat with a fork...even if it's apple sauce. So he will go to the pantry and ask for hot sauce and then go to the drawer for a fork.

-he also loves shoes. He also tries to put random things, like blocks, on his feet and tell me that they are shoes or sandals.

-he loves his friend Emmy that lives down the street. We had dinner with them one night at Rosa's. The next time that we pulled into the parking lot at Rosa's he said, "Emmy?" Eric and I thought that was pretty intelligent since he remembered that from about 2 weeks prior.

-he also remembers that he ate hot dogs with Emmy, so everytime we say hot dog he says Emmy.

-every morning when he wakes up he starts signing and saying eat. If I don't feed him right away he will start to walk to the kitchen and tell me "come" and wave his arm to motion for me to come with him.

-when Eric is off he usually goes to get Collin from his bed and brings him to bed with me. He puts Collin in the bed and he crawls over to me and snuggles up to me. It is so sweet and I take full advantage of our snuggle time.

-when Eric is off, Collin always says, "daddy home". This week he has said that every day since Eric was on vacation. He sits between us on the couch and says, "Mama home, Daddy home."

-he loves animals and calls most of them by their sound. We took him to the Fort Worth Zoo this week and it was cute to hear him make all of the animal sounds. Of course, there are some that we don't know the sound too, so he just went through the ones he thought might match. For example, the meerkat, he said "meow". We just went along with it :)

-he is so sweet. He loves animals, even bugs. I catch him sometimes squatted down outside saying Hi to bugs or ants. If we go for a walk he likes to stop at our neighbors' yards and hug the angel or animal statues. I heard him today making a kissing sound to an angel statue, Mmmmmaaaaahhhh.

-he still enjoys running water in our bathtub and putting cups or anything under the water. Something about filling things up.

-he has a love for music and still dances when he hears a beat. A few weeks ago we were taking some Monday night classes at church. We got out a little early one night and went to get CC from the childcare and all of the kids were in a circle playing musical instruments and dancing. When we were walking to the car he was singing, "Na na, na na na na, Na na, na na na na na" from one of the Christian songs. It was so sweet.

-he also sings his song from swimming lessons when you ask him if he wants to go swimming.

-he loves my hair and always wraps his arms around my neck and plays with my hair. He also takes my hair and gently rubs it across his face and laughs when it tickles.

-the other night we went out to eat and I ordered some tres leches cake for dessert. When it came to the table Collin started saying "Happy!" We cracked up! It is so fitting that my child gets that excited over dessert! ha.

I could probably go on for days about the things that he does, but I wanted to share a little bit with you! He is such a joy and really doesn't cause us problems unless he is hungry or tired.
